The consolidated returns service requires the use of a special endorsement showing CHEXcollect Settlement Bank as the bank of “first Deposit” on each deposited check at your depository bank. CHEXcollect provides the requirements for the special endorsement stamp or works with your data processing department or software vender to help create the proper endorsement via your point-of-sale equipment. With the endorsement showing CHEXcollect settlement Bank as bank of first deposit, paying banks will send your returned checks to us.

Once CHEXcollect receives a returned check we will redeposit the check electronically, representing any eligible item for a second presentment and if necessary a third time.
CHEXcollect will also send an electronic debit for any authorized return fees. This electronic re-presentment can also be timed to debit on a known payday like Friday, or the first, or fifteenth of each month. Often paydays provide a better chance of recovery.

If the electronic presentment is returned a third time, we can send the returned item directly to you or to your company’s collection agency for the appropriate collection action.
